Latin America. With 32 years of experience in the Brazilian market, both in the ProAV and broadcast segments, for two years the company Merlin Distribuidora opened an office in Miami to better serve its customers and in order to seek expansion that will lead them to open new markets in Latin America.
About this process, Edson Marion, director of Merlin Distribuidora, told TVyVideo+Radio that in Brazil they have several work fronts, such as sale to the end user, representation through dealers, project integration and training. In their day-to-day work, they realized that many dealers were going to buy some products in Miami but without a guarantee in their country.
Based on this situation, they reached agreements with the factories to sell the products in Miami to small resellers and provide a guarantee in Brazil. It was a negotiation with the factories that took a long time because it's not the way the market usually works.
He stressed that one of the advantages they offer to their customers is that they have products in stock from the brands with which they currently have an agreement to represent from Miami for the Brazilian market, among which are Sony, Panasonic, Newtek, Aja, Datavide and Fujinon.
The first brand that gave them the backing to open the Miami office, in which 3 people work, was Panasonic. In one year they have had a growth of 500%.
He added that today they are making arrangements to, according to each particular case, be able to represent some brands for Latin America under the same business model as in Brazil and with the guarantee and technical assistance from Miami.
