Colombia. The Fortieth Academic Meeting of AFACOM, which will be held on March 29 and 30, will be at the Universidad del Norte will be and will have the participation of recognized exponents of communicative knowledge at national and international level.
"The Academic Meeting of Afacom is an event that we can not miss neither teachers, nor managers, nor graduates because we will review the trends of training and the communication profession, its challenges and challenges," said Alberto Martínez, Vice President of Afacom and Director of the Social Communication and Journalism program of Uninorte.
The meeting "Communication Strategies and Intercultural Betting" is organized in four modules that will be developed through panels with each of the experts.
For the first time, a Minister of State will be at the event facility. Yaneth Giha, Minister of Education, will speak about the expected training prospects, the significance of communication at the institutional level, and the government's expectations towards post-deal narratives.
The first module has as its central theme political communication. He will talk with Francisco Diez, representative of the Kroc Institute, an entity selected by the Colombian Government to manage the post-conflict in the country. Social Scientist Toby Miller will also participate, who will present a parallel between Brexit and the triumph of the No in the plebiscite. The closing of the theme will be in charge of Juan Camilo Maldonado, journalist of El Espectador, with his perspective on the place of young journalists in the construction of a media agenda for the post-conflict.
In the module on journalism Albert Chillón, a renowned researcher, will talk about the defense of journalism as a cultural knowledge. Next to him will be Gervasio Sánchez, war reporter and winner of the Garnica Peace Prize, who will talk about the work of a journalist when the war is over.
This year will honor the journalist Juan Gossaín, an important reference in the training of many generations of communicators and journalists in the country. A documentary about his life and work will be presented with the aim of learning more about his career.
On the second day of the Meeting, the strategic communication module will be developed with the teacher Sandra Massoni of the Universidad del Rosario, who will share her research on communication in organizations. In addition, Professor Ana María Suárez, from the University of Antioquia, will present the results of the Monitor Research on the role of Dircom in Latin America.
The panel agenda will end with the communication for development module with the presentation of Rafael Obregón, Chief of UNICEF's Communication for Development Section. Also participating will be Adelaida Trujillo, executive director of Communication Initiative in Latin America, along with Warren Feek, general executive director, who will talk about the evolution of the communication and development project for the Caribbean and Latin America.
