Latin America. ARRI's new Alexa SXT (Super Xtended Technology) cameras also offer 4K ProRes recording, improved image quality, powerful color handling and three fully independent HD-SDI outputs.
With built-in ProRes 4K UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels) recording and ProRes 4K Cine (4096 x 2637 pixels), Alexa SXT cameras are the choice for those productions that require 4K UHD TV or 4K DCI cinema digital media, so filmmakers can continue to use the ARRI Alexa platform they already know.
They keep the 3.4K ALEV III sensor of the previous Alexa to which the electronics of the Alexa 65 camera are added. This high-performance electronics combine the latest generation of FPGA processors with a high-speed internal backplane forming the basis of a completely revamped image processing chain, advanced pixel defect correction and optional noise reduction.
It is possible to create new, powerful and unique looks thanks to the use of the color management device originally developed for the ARRI Amira camera. Taking advantage of the wide range of native colors of the Alexa sensor, this new device allows control that, in the end, means greater creative freedom for the director of photography.
To further streamline on-set workflows and deliver what film crews around the world demand, Alexa SXT cameras include three fully independent HDSDI outputs.
The first Alexa SXT cameras are scheduled to be released in mid-2015. Simultaneously with the launch of the Alexa SXT, ARRI will offer an update to the SXR (Super Xtended Recording) Module to owners of existing Alexa XT, XT Plus and XT Studio cameras.
