International. Arri announced that the Software Update Package (SUP) 11.0 for Alexa cameras is now available for download from the company's website, at no cost.
The eleventh update for Alexa cameras contains many new features, including ProRes 3.2K recording format for Alexa for productions that require ultra-high definition 4K digital media, and ADA-5, an expanded algorithm for decoding that further improves the image quality of the ALEXA camera.
Available for Alexa XT and Classic cameras with the XR Module update, the ProRes 3.2K is a new resolution for recording that uses 3.2K sensor photo sites to record a 3.2K ProRes 16:9 file. At speeds well below uncompressed ARRIRAW, Alexa ProRes 3.2K offers the benefits of a robust and efficient ProRes workflow.
ARRI's ADA-5 decoder algorithm represents an advance in image quality for all Alexa camera models, delivering clearer, sharper images. In addition, the ADA-5 further reduces noise in the red and blue channels, making it even easier to compose visual effects with blue screen.
Another feature of SUP 11.0 is the expanded media support, thanks to which all generations of SxS PRO+ memory cards can now be used in all ALEXA cameras and SanDisk CFast 2.0 128 GB cards can be used in Alexa XT/XR cameras.
Alexa's compatibility with the ARRI Electronic Control System (ECS) has also been expanded. The SUP 11.0 package offers support for the new LDE-1 lens data encoder and also unlocks many new features when using the WCU-4 manual wireless unit.
