Chile. Within the framework of the Agenda for the Strengthening of Community and Citizen Media, the Chilean government initiated a public tender that seeks to strengthen and promote the work of community and citizen radio stations in the country.
As an unprecedented initiative in Chile, the measure is expected to promote improvements in the quality of FM sound broadcasting transmission, through the subsidy of an FM Audio Processing System composed of processing equipment, radio signal modulation and transmitters. In this way, the Contest will have 466 subsidies, each equivalent to just over 5.7 million pesos, which will be allocated in three stages during 2024.
"As a government, we have built a robust agenda around the strengthening of community and citizen media. We know that they play a fundamental role in our daily work, for this reason, from SUBTEL we have had different tools that allow us to support the work they do, one of the most important is this Public Tender that will allow us to improve the transmission systems. Through the Media Agenda that we are carrying out together with Segegob, we seek to take care of different needs of those who are dedicated to communications," said the Undersecretary of Telecommunications, Claudio Araya.
