ETB and DirecTV seek massification of streaming

streaming, directv y etbColombia. ETB and DirecTV signed a strategic commercial alliance that will allow them to offer a more diversified portfolio to users to meet the high demand for audiovisual consumption, especially in times of pandemic.

This agreement will allow ETB fiber optic customers to add to their plan the DirecTV GO service and enjoy, through the internet, 90 live channels and more than 10,000 titles of series and movies with a preferential discount of 25% for one year, that is, $ 44,990, which will be included in the same ETB bill. And, in a second phase, DirecTV customers will be offered a special plan to purchase ETB's fiber optic services in the same package.

According to a study conducted in 2019 by the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC), the consumption of paid content platforms rose 3 percentage points between 2018 and 2019, to reach 24%; to this is added that 22% also enjoy these platforms for the payment of a family member who does not reside at home (such as parents or couples). Therefore, DirecTV and ETB want to be part of that growth, to respond to the demand for differential and exclusive content such as football matches and other live mass sporting events, the original production of series and documentaries.

"Thanks to the fact that ETB already offers the highest speeds, up to 500 megabytes, the alliance adds the fastest connectivity on the market with premium content and live television. Thus, it will be the user who chooses the best entertainment experience thanks to a diversified portfolio, at a time when much of the entertainment migrated to homes. Thus, according to the most recent traffic report of the CRC, in general terms, the highest consumption range remains between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Therefore, despite the work and academic activities, the maximum stress of the network remains in the prime entertainment schedule," said Sergio González, president of ETB.

It should be noted that, also according to the CRC, between January and December 2020, ETB saw an increase in internet traffic by 67% compared to the previous year, as a result of the preventive isolation that brought productive, study and entertainment activities to the home. Therefore, the alliance is the product of the interest of the two companies to massify entertainment via streaming and allow families to continue taking care of themselves at home, while enjoying the new way of watching DirecTV GO television from the TV and all kinds of devices.

"The digital transformation is revolutionizing telecommunications services and of course our company is part of that transformation, aligning us with our customers, who are changing their consumption habits. With this strategic alliance we want to deliver to the market a state-of-the-art option of streaming entertainment," said Mariano Díaz de Vivar, Country Manager of DirecTV.

In the stage of digital transformation in which the country finds itself, it is necessary to develop digital services according to the demand of citizens. Digital consumers are changing the way they relate to the environment and companies are committed to responding to their requirements with services that are simple to use and that represent a real benefit, such as that offered by this alliance.
