International. Production companies and the most advanced broadcasters have gone almost unnoticed from working in the office to working from home thanks to the investments made in online production solutions, a topic that becomes more relevant due to the effects of Covid-19.
YLE, Finland's public broadcaster, has increased its production costs both internally and to support the local production community.
The imperceptible transition from work in the office to work at home
YLE is often at the peak of innovation and has invested large sums to achieve a fully digital production flow. This has paid off as concerns about Covid-19 arose and when YLE sent its staff to work from home, as far as possible.
"Pre-production continues as planned. Through our online pre-production and production platforms, our teams unwittingly went from working in the office to working from home," said Rami Lindholm, team leader at Finland's public broadcaster YLE.
However, the Covid-19 crisis has increased the need for updated programming and rapid production of new programs. Because YLE already had a workflow with Dramatify at its core, this can be done from home. "No one questions the need for cloud-based online systems anymore," said Rami Lindholm.
Functionality of the new real-time production update
The functionality of Dramatify's new real-time production update helps keep scattered production teams in touch. New episodes, scripts, characters, sets and locations, edited or deleted, are uploaded directly and viewed by users according to the access rights of each one. Users can also comment to inform their teams about the details of changes made.
Real-time production updates add to several fundamental features of the Dramatify dashboard that keeps each user abreast of all their productions in one place.
"Keeping abreast of the details about the rapid changes is one of the biggest challenges of most productions. With the panel and new real-time production updates, we provide a service not only to the main members of the production, but also to makeup artists, set designers, costume designers, set builders, on-site technicians and many others. This not only allows them to work from home but also reduces the risk of errors that costs time and money," said Dramatify CEO and co-founder Annika Lidne.
