The new DCR-Q series of low-band VHF antennas breaks with existing size and weight restrictions, reducing the space normally required in a tower to support a traditional low-frequency panel or a super turnstile 2-6 channel antenna, with an economical, versatile and space-saving design.
The design of this equipment was adapted from the existing DCR Series FM antenna family, a solution needed by broadcasters moving from a UHF channel to VHF during TV repackaging. Some UHF stations simply did not have the tower space available to support a traditional large low-band VHF antenna and its associated weight and wind load.
The DCR-Q solves these limitations through a lighter, smaller form factor that can be mounted laterally or on top of towers, including structures that were once deemed unsuitable to support low-band VHF systems. In addition, the adaptation of the ring design of the DCR series offers excellent circularity. VHF signals generally experience less penetration into the building, and the addition of circular polarization with the DCR-Q improves indoor reception.
