Peru. The identification of a greater range of frequencies in the 3.5 GHz band, indicated as the digital way to start 5G, will allow the progressive implementation of this technology in Peru and the provision of new services in favor of citizens.
It is important to have more radio spectrum, so that users can enjoy new services, with better quality, that allows Peruvians to start living 'the fourth industrial revolution'.
"This revolution will have a positive impact on the economic, social and educational activities that people carry out through the Internet," said the director of Policies and Regulation in Communications, José Aguilar.
In this regard, Ministerial Resolution No. 757-2019-MTC/01.03 was published, which identifies the frequency band 3300-3800 MHz (3.5 GHz), so that its allocation for International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) services is available.
"With the approval of this regulation, it is possible to identify a greater amount of available spectrum that guarantees equal access to companies operating in the 3.5 GHz band, which will allow establishing the appropriate technical conditions for the deployment of 5G in the country," said Aguilar.
Also, Vice-Ministerial Resolution No. 641-2019-MTC/03 was published, which establishes the channeling of the 3.5 GHz and AWS Extended - 1.7 GHz-2.1Ghz- bands (the same one that has already been commissioned for public tender in Proinversión), in blocks of 5 MHz.
This standard allows to provide transmission capacity at high speeds and a more intensive use of mobile data, which encourages the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart cities.
José Aguilar stressed that "the approval of these legal devices will facilitate the progressive implementation of new technologies (such as 5G), which must be accompanied by a greater deployment of infrastructure, with better coverage of the mobile service. This will allow Peru to be one of the leading countries in the region."
