International. For the second half of the year, the new OTT platform that was launched on Monday, Apple TV+, will be available, which promises access to movies, series and documentaries from the brightest minds in film and television around the world.
Commenting on Apple's subscription video service, Eddy Cue, the company's senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, said, "We are very proud to have the greatest talent in film and television, both in front of and behind the cameras, on our Apple TV+ platform. In addition, we're thrilled to be able to offer viewers a preview of Apple TV+ and look forward to this fall's launch. Apple TV+ will bring together some of the best original film and TV content movie lovers have ever seen."
In addition, Apple has introduced the new Apple TV app and Apple TV channels, available in May 2019. The new Apple TV app brings together the different ways to watch and discover movies, series, sports, news and more content in a single app for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, smart TVs and streaming devices.
By subscribing, users will be able to enjoy the new Apple TV channels —paying only for the services they want, such as HBO, SHOWTIME and Starz—on demand, online or offline, and with incredible picture and sound quality. They'll also be able to watch sports, news, and cable or satellite channels, and buy or rent iTunes movies and series, all from the new custom Apple TV app.
Starting in May, customers will be able to subscribe to the Apple TV channels they want and watch them directly in the Apple TV app, without the need for additional apps or accounts or passwords. In addition to content from popular services such as HBO, Starz, SHOWTIME, CBS All Access, Smithsonian Channel, EPIX, Tastemade or Noggin, Apple TV channels will include new services such as MTV Hits and others that will be incorporated around the world.
