Mexico. HD Radio presented at CES 2019 its most recent novelties, among which are the implementation of SDR, the latest receivers with its technology for both home and cars and announced that it already has in Mexico a coverage of 37% of the territory with HD radio.
Regarding technology, there are four novelties:
• The implementation of The Define Radio Software (SDR) for HD Radio from Telechips and Kenwood, which allows the adoption of HD Radio technology for radio receiver manufacturers at a much lower cost.
• The first digital receiver for the 2019 Kia Stringer model in the United States, with additional HD2/HD3 channels, artist experience, and traffic and weather services.
• The most current receivers with HD Radio technology and artist experience services, HD2/HD3 channels and traffic for Audi, Fiat Chrysler, Hyundai and Toyota in the North American market.
• The latest 12V HD Radio receivers for the aftermarket and home from Xperi's main business partners: Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, Pioneer, Rosen, Sangean, Sparc, Sony and VQ internationally.
It is worth mentioning that HD radio operates in Mexico and today has 161 digital radio channels: 100 HD Radio stations and 61 additional channels in HD2/HD3/HD4. In addition, 37% of the population is in digital coverage.
The company also pointed out that there are 18 car brands to date that have more than 75 models that offer HD Radio technology as part of their equipment: Audi, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Ford, GMC, Honda, Jeep, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi, RAM, Subaru and Toyota, in which you can already listen to stations that transmit in digital and enjoy all their benefits.
Adding the markets of Canada, the United States and Mexico where HD Radio operates today, today it has reached more than 45.5 million vehicles equipped with digital receivers and 45% of the new cars sold have HD Radio as part of its basic equipment to take advantage of more than 4,300 digital channels.
