Mexico. Televisa expanded its existing TV CDN, adding more capacity and new schedule change features to its service. The new time-changing capabilities will be rolled out to more than five hundred thousand subscribers across 100 channels, allowing its viewers to pause and rewind up to three hours of TV.
The expansion will also allow many viewers of its Izzi TV service to migrate from an older platform and take advantage of the new features.
"Our viewers expect the best TV service available. Having the convenience and flexibility to pause and rewind live TV is another example of how online TV has moved beyond traditional TV and gives our customers a more engaging viewing experience," said Carlos Eduardo Romero, Director of Video and Hubs at Izzi.
Televisa has deployed new Edgeware TV servers to increase its capacity, while the new time-changing features will also take advantage of existing servers that are already deployed on Televisa's network, using its cache as a circular buffer to store programs across many channels.
"We are thrilled to continue to grow our relationship with one of Mexico's largest television providers. This project is another example of how our current customers continue to improve their online TV services, adding new capabilities and capabilities and improving the experience for their viewers," commented Karl Thedéen, CEO of Edgeware.
Televisa's new system was delivered and implemented in the third quarter of 2018.
