Latin America. Blackmagic Design introduced its new eGPU Pro, an external graphics processing unit designed to streamline the operation of professional creative programs such as DaVinci Resolve, three-dimensional video games and virtual reality applications.
It features an AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 card and offers twice the performance of the original Blackmagic eGPU model and up to 22 times the speed of the integrated processor of the 13-inch MacBook Pro computers.
This version includes a Radeon RX Vega 56 card, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, four USB 3.1 and another DisplayPort that allows you to connect monitors with 5K resolution, as well as an HDMI 2.0 connection and 85 W of power to charge various devices. Developed in collaboration with Apple, its comprehensive design provides greater computing acceleration and high-end graphic processing for audio-visual editing programs, three-dimensional video games, and virtual reality applications.
It offers 8 GB of HBM2 RAM, an impressive 2048-bit memory interface with a bandwidth of 410 Gb/s and 56 compute units with a maximum processing capacity of 10.5 teraflops. In turn, the Radeon RX Vega 56 card is capable of filling an impressive 94 billion textured pixels per second. It should also be noted that the unit supports Apple's Metal technology, which provides almost direct access to the GPU, in order to optimize its performance for games and applications.
With a performance almost twice as high as the previous model, DaVinci Resolve users will notice a significant improvement in the program's operation when grading and using real-time effects. This allows them to spend more time exploring different creative options.
For example, on a 13-inch MacBook Pro, application features that demand a lot of processor resources run up to 22 times faster with the Blackmagic eGPU Pro model. Since DaVinci Resolve 15 is fully Metal compatible and supports the use of multiple GPUs, this is the best way to take full advantage of the benefits the drive offers. The program can be downloaded free of charge from the Blackmagic Design website and provides a comprehensive solution in terms of editing, color grading, audio post-production and visual effects.
For their part, video game fans and those users who use glasses and virtual reality applications will get more sharpness, a higher frame rate, better lighting and more detailed textures to achieve a truly immersive experience. In addition, the Blackmagic eGPU Pro model includes a DisplayPort connection for monitors with a resolution of 5K.
