Peru. In Quito, the governments of Peru and Ecuador met to strengthen the development of land and telecommunications infrastructure for the benefit of their populations during the Presidential Meeting and XII binational cabinet.
The Minister of Transport and Communications of Peru, Edmer Trujillo, and the Deputy Minister of Telecommunications and the Information Society of Ecuador, Alberto Jácome, strengthened the agreement for the assignment and use of radio frequencies for VHF and UHF sound and television broadcasting stations in the border area. Both signed an addendum to the agreement, whose subscription was established at the 2017 presidential meeting, held in Trujillo.
The incorporation into the bilateral agreement will increase the number of UHF channels assigned to their border areas, and include technical parameters that allow the inclusion of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) channels.
The head of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, Edmer Trujillo, indicated that the inclusion of DTT will contribute to generate investments that expand the current commercial offer, as well as to improve the quality of the image signal, for the benefit of the population of both countries, allowing greater programming and signals to be provided by broadcasters.
Likewise, the addendum also establishes improvements to the coordination procedures to solve interferences. Thus, once the cause has been identified, the station of the country of origin will be required to use the appropriate filters, frequency changes, modification of parameters and other technical characteristics that allow the elimination of interference. It may also be inspected, jointly, to identify the cause and proceed to incorporate a solution.
