Latin America. A software platform that improves comprehensive workflows for the production and post-production of television and audiovisual content is the purpose of Continuity, now in its version 2.0, developed in Mexico 100% by the integrator Grupo Arte y Tecnología (Artec), said Jaime Tovar Fischer, CEO of the company.
"Continuity's core mission is to erase that line between production and post-production of television and audiovisual content. We continue working taking the figures that are taken in the production part. Now you can do a workflow analysis, for example to know what is the best number of scenes that are filmed in a production. Normally the television stations and production companies are filming according to the location and according to the hours of work, but it does not necessarily lead to a point of maximum productivity. For example, if you can only edit one chapter a day, do not do two or three, because it limits the part of how the image is going to be raised," he described.
Tovar mentioned that together with other developers, they have achieved a robust product: "We integrate with Tedial, with its BPM (Business Process Management) —which is a software that analyzes production processes in post-production—, it begins with ingestion and other processes that complete the chain, such as color correction, audio or dubbing. Those kinds of business decisions are where we come in with Continuity 2.0, because now we can give the BPM information of how many scenes were recorded; to which chapters they belong; we can give a real-time report of the progress of a series, a telenovela, a chapter or a day of recording; that is, the entire analysis part of measuring metrics to a business part. It directly impacts productivity."
He added: "Another advantage of Continuity 2.0 is that we can connect with two MAM (Media Asset Management): with Tedial and with Avid Interplay MAM, and what we do is we give you the information: the production metadata: scripts, casts, costume continuity information, makeup, props, scenography. All that information is delivered by us and it becomes part of the metadata of the files that are saved in the MAM."
Tovar detailed the advantages of the new version of Mexican software: "It is part of what is known as Metadata Agregation (MA) —which although we are not doing it with artificial intelligence—, but we do it from the script, with real information, 100% accurate, not generated or invented by a robot. We have the script as it was modified in the production process and with it we have a perfectly cataloged file. We have technical metadata (such as ingesting with an Avid Interplay or in one of the competition); we also have the production metadata, which is not so easy to obtain. I think we have a unique product, because at least I don't know anything similar. That's Continuity 2.0.
On the performance of the product, he mentioned: "We are with two Televisa productions: the telenovelas Amar sin ley 2 and Entre lobos —which has not yet aired—; we are with FOX with Besieged 2; and with another client in Latin America soon. We are working very intensively on product development."
