Arri received An Emmy for Alexa Camera Engineering

International. During the 69th Engineering Emmy Awards Ceremony in Hollywood, the Television Academy honored Arri with the world's most prestigious television award for outstanding achievement in engineering development for its Alexa digital film camera system.

Actress Kirsten Vangsness, who presented the award, said: "The Alexa camera system represents a transformative technology in television due to its excellent qualities in digital imaging, accompanied by a fully integrated post-production workflow. In addition, its cohesive post-production process, built-in recording of both raw and compressed video images and an easy-to-use interface have contributed to the massive adoption of the Arri Alexa by the television industry."

On Arri's behalf, the Engineering Award was received by Harald Brendel, Head of the Imaging Science Team and Frank Zeidler, Chief Technology Officer and Deputy Director of R&D – both members of the Alexa development team – as well as Glenn Kennel, President of Arri Inc.

In his speech upon receiving the award, Harald Brendel mentioned the legacy that Arri's 100 years have left by laying the foundation for Alexa and by keeping this camera today as the workhorse of the industry.

Famous for its organic, cinematic look and high dynamic range, the Alexa digital camera was quickly adopted for its outstanding image quality, reliability, efficient workflow and ease of use. The upgradeable design of the Alexa has allowed the system to remain the camera of choice for film and television productions even seven years after its launch. Camera technology is currently available in multiple iterations: the Alexa Mini, the Alexa SXT Studio with optical viewfinder and the recently introduced Alexa SXT W for wireless control.

The Television Academy Engineering Emmy Awards are given to individuals, companies or organizations for those developments in engineering that significantly improve existing methods or for innovations that materially affect television broadcasting, recording or reception.

The Engineering Emmy Award is particularly significant this year as 2017 marks Arri's centennial. Towards the beginning of the year Arri was awarded by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with the Scientific and Engineering Award for the advanced concept and innovative technology of its Alexa digital camera system.
