Peru. The Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, convened the country's telecommunications operators to coordinate actions to guarantee communication in the face of earthquakes and other natural disasters.
The meeting, organized by the Vice Ministry of Communications, which is part of the agenda of periodic dialogue maintained by the sector, was attended by representatives of Movistar, Claro, Entel, Bitel, among other companies in the market, as well as officials of the National Institute of Civil Defense (Indeci), to coordinate the issuance of informative text messages as a prelude to the National Earthquake Drill that will be held on Friday, October 13 at 8:00 p.m.
"In the MTC we seek to generate efficiencies in public telecommunications services, as well as strengthen the articulation between the authorities and the private sector to give quick responses to any natural disaster," said Deputy Minister of Communications, Carlos Valdez.
The MTC, in coordination with the operators, will also send a text message to citizens reminding them that in emergencies it is advisable to opt for text messaging, the use of data (internet), as well as the free voice messaging system 119 to communicate with family and friends.
