Latin America. A few months after the announcement of a strategic alliance between Avid and Microsoft for the cooperative development of cloud solutions -announced during NAB Show 2017-, the convergence work between both companies continues to develop, explained Eduardo Solana, senior manager of Regional Sales at Avid.
"We are in the first stage, that is, establishing the customers of what are going to be beta sites that we are going to start. Globo de Brasil is one of the first to start with the Azure platform and the first phase of Avid mounted on Azure," he said during Expo Cine, Video y TV 2017, held in Mexico City.
He commented that they have already started meetings between the teams of both companies: "We are listening to initiatives to open more customers in Latin America. It is a medium-term strategy; at IBC we will probably already see the new integrated services and then we will see the maturity of this partnership. At the Mexican level we have already met with the people of Microsoft to understand a little more how their platform works, the scope. We have explained the PART of AV and where all this can go."
Solana also said that the process of taking advantage of the solutions of Orad, a company they acquired in 2015, continues. "We continue to mature the issue of integration with Orad. We brought a PlayMaker solution; we can do the entire ingest solution directly to Nexis, so you can start editing two seconds later with Media Central or Media Composer, now with a server like PlayMaker, which can continue to make instant replays and serve as a server, but allows the post-production part to make a summary of some sporting event.
