Mexico. Damián Naguirner, Sales Manager for Latin America at Pico Digital, considered that one of the priorities of cable service operators in the region should be the digitalization of their offer, since this will lead to a growth in their number of subscribers.
In his attendance at Convergencia MX -exhibition held in Mexico City- the executive commented: "The process of digitalization in Latin America is very polarized. We have to separate the large cablers - most of whom provide digital TV services - and the cablers who work within countries, which are smaller, but there are many. They are what they want to equate the services of the big ones."
He added: "Many technology providers do not know how to advise cable operators on how to enter that market without dying in the attempt. You have to understand the situation of cable operator, what is its audience, and what is the amount that its subscribers are willing to pay for a service. Beyond that, we are developing solutions tailored to the cable operator and based on their economic capacity, which will make a profit and not an expense."
To improve their services, Naguirner said, cablers must start with small changes, in which they can be assisted by Pico Digital. "They are small things, like incorporating a CMTS, an investment of 7 thousand dollars and so instead of having a single service you have more offer. With limited investments, the offer of services to its clients is escalating. So the business model begins to change. If operators go digital, the number of customers who do not pay for their service is reduced, which earns more subscribers," he said.
