Colombia. The National Television Authority presented the schedules that will give free rein to the bidding processes of Canal UNO and Tercer Canal. In this way, in October 2016 and May 2017, respectively, Colombians will have new options to watch television.
With the fulfillment of the tasks defined by the Council of State and overcome the technical inconveniences to grant frequency, the process of the Third Channel is reactivated. As of May 11, those interested in the process can be registered with the Single Registry of Operators (RUO), which will be awarded by May 2017.
On the other hand, with respect to Canal UNO, after carrying out the technical study, with the help of the National University, in compliance with the request in article 41 of Law 1753 of the National Development Plan to determine the number of concessionaires suitable for the operation of the Canal, it defined that it is viable and offers more advantages to have a single concessionaire.
With this panorama, the feasibility of tendering Canal UNO is given. In this way, in July of this year the call for interested parties will be opened and its award will be carried out in October 2016.
"During this last year we have worked to overcome the obstacles in the two processes, and today the viability of giving more television alternatives to Colombians is a reality. More entertainment, education, culture, sports, in general, more quality content," said Ángela María Mora, Director of the National Television Authority.
The announced processes will be accompanied by the Delegate Attorney for Preventive Surveillance, Dr. Fanny González and will be under the management of the ANTV Board.
