Colombia. Regardless of your social status, your marital status or your personality, when you, within the national territory, are in front of a television on you become a viewer. It can be active or passive depending on the degree of attention you are paying to the content broadcast.
The National Television Authority, ANTV, published the rights of the viewers:
1. The viewer has the right to receive free of charge the free-to-air television signal from private national channels, institutional channels and regional and local channels operating in his municipality. The free-to-air television signal is one that you can receive at no cost or subscription at any location that is covered by a station service.
The free-to-air television service is provided by four classes of operators: national public channels, regional public channels, national private channels (RCN and Caracol), and local for-profit and non-profit channels.
2. To be guaranteed the right to inform and receive truthful and impartial information.
3. To clearly separate the information from the opinion and advertising.
4. To exercise the right of rectification for information that they consider publicly affects their good name or other rights and interests for information that they consider inaccurate, libelous or false transmitted in television programs whose disclosure may harm them.
5. That their complaints and requests are dealt with in a timely manner by the Ombudsman of the Viewer.
6. Access to the content of free-to-air television through accessibility systems for people with hearing loss.
7. To receive information about the change of the programming grid.
8. To create and belong to consumer leagues that collaborate in the exercise of control and surveillance over the public television service.
9. To a dignified and respectful entertainment.
10. Turn off the TV when you consider it.
