Latin America. Scripps Networks Interactive announced the appointment of Eduardo Hauser, an expert in the media and technology industry, as its new Managing Director for Latin America and the Caribbean. Hauser joined the company on March seven and his position will be based in Miami.
As Managing Director, Hauser will be responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the company's entire business in Latin America – which currently includes the Food Network, as well as the distribution of the company's media in the Caribbean. Additionally, Hauser is tasked with identifying and evaluating growth opportunities in the region including launches of new channels, partnerships and strategic alliances across multiple platforms and distribution channels.
"Eduardo's extensive experience in pan-regional media, coupled with his vision and entrepreneurial spirit will position Scripps Networks very well toward the goal of developing and expanding our business throughout Latin America," said Jim Samples, President, International to whom Hauser will report. "Latin America is a very important center in the media and with Eduardo at the helm we are sure that we can achieve our full growth potential."
Earlier in his career, Hauser created the strategic alliance between Cisneros and Aol to launch Aol in Latin America; he also played an integral role in creating the partnership between Hughes Electronics, Cisneros, Multivision of Mexico and Grupo Abril of Brazil to launch DIRECTV in Latin America. Prior to joining Aol as Executive Vice President for Latin America, he spent 10 years with Cisneros, including the position of Director General of the Office of the Presidency. Hauser has also held senior management positions with Cricket Media and Venevisión.
Hauser later developed Hauser & Co., an investment advisory firm and a firm specializing in media, technology, education and restaurant consulting. In addition, DailyMe, a company specialized in personalization technology for news media. More recently, Hauser also contributed to the development of Soy TED, a television format based on the famous TED talks, aimed at Spanish-speaking audiences.
Hauser is a lawyer, graduated from the Andrés Bello Catholic University of Venezuela and has a Master of Laws awarded by Duke University. Beyond his business activities, Hauser serves on or has served on the boards of directors of various public, private and non-profit organizations, including Ring Central, NPR, Vme Media, Pine Crest School, Knight Foundation and Duke University School of Law.
