International. After announcing a schedule of original series for preschoolers, Netflix will add new original series for older children starting in December. In partnership with globally recognized brands, it will release new LEGO® Bionicle® and LEGO® Friends stories, as well as Dawn of the Croods from DreamWorks Animation.
Netflix also expands its programming offering for teens and tweens. Those who aspire to be rock stars will already discover that a hit can be the product of heartbreak with the real character show Lost & Found Music Studios; while fans of speed and fun will delight in the stop-motion action comedy Buddy Thunderstruck or, rather, with Greasepit, where the passion for racing is breathed.
Glitter Force, a series inspired by anime, joins other titles on Netflix that feature strong girls in starring roles. And finally, Netflix presents its first animated original series produced in Latin America, Las Leyendas, which is based on a successful trilogy of children's films from the Mexican animation studio, Ánima Estudios.
"Nearly half of our 65 million members worldwide typically watch Kids content. With the acquisition of these seven varied original series, we continue to bet heavily on children's programming," says Andy Yeatman, Director of Global Kids Content for Netflix. "We know kids love Netflix, and that's partly because Netflix never looks small. We put together the programming and recommend new shows and movies from preschool age, through adolescence, into adulthood."
