Steven Sinofsky has announced that in addition to teaching at Harvard Business School, he will join Andreessen Horowitz Venture Capital part-time to advise some of Silicon Valley's start-ups.
In November 2012, Steven Sinofsky left Microsoft. Shortly after leaving, he opened a personal blog and joined as a professor at the prestigious Harvard Business School, despite the fact that everyone was waiting for the news of his incorporation into a large company, which is supposed to not happen until December of this year, according to the pact he signed when he left Microsoft. In any case, this agreement will not prevent you from working as a start-up advisor in a venture capital fund.
Steven Sinofsky has been in charge of publishing through his blog his incorporation as an advisor to one of the largest venture capital funds in Silicon Valley. He will advise Andreessen Horowitz Venture Capital, the venture capital fund founded by Marc Andreessen (creator of Mosaic and founder of Netscape) and Ben Horowitz (who also worked at Netscape and was CEO and founder of Opsware).
Sinofsky himself states that he is delighted to join the company as a partner, as "Andreessen Horowitz is a venture capital entity that believes deeply in helping entrepreneurs and helping to change the vision of the product and the business."
The entrepreneur says he still has a lot to learn in the world of venture capital and start-ups, but that he is very excited about it and that he cannot "think of a better place to do this than A16Z, as they share a commitment to learn and share that learning. An example of this is all the blog posts that doctors write."
For its part, A16Z states that "Sinofsky can bring strategic vision and management experience to start-ups. We are delighted to have them join and look forward to giving the company a new look and great success."
