MADRID, 1 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -
Ericsson has announced its intention to buy the British company specialized in media services Red Bee Media from Macquarie Advanced Investments Partners, as reported on Monday by the Swedish multinational, which did not specify the amount of the operation.
Once the transaction, subject to regulatory approval, has closed, 1,500 issuer services professionals from the UK-based company will join Ericsson's Global Services Business Unit.
Specifically, with 1,240 Red Bee Media employees in the United Kingdom, Ericsson's business in that country will grow to around 4,000 employees, of which more than a third will be in the services area. Thus, the United Kingdom will be one of Ericsson's global service hubs.
The technology firm has indicated that this operation further strengthens Ericsson's broadcaster services area, which began in 2007 and expanded in 2012 with the acquisition of Technicolor's services division.
For Executive Vice President of Ericsson's Global Services Business Unit, Magnus Mandersson, the firm is taking another step in transforming its business, strengthening its commitment to television and broadcaster services.
