The Chinese firm HDAVS has presented at several fairs in Asia and Europe its DataCam product line. It's about a family of camcorders for ENG/EFP applications that record material HD in MPEG2 I-Frame at 100 Mbps and SD material in MPEG2 4:2:0 IBP with data rates between 25 and 80 Mbps. Recording system of these camcorders can also generate MXF files with Avid DNxHD essence, which would allow implement interesting workflows for users of editing systems of this brand.

One of the attractions of these camcorders is the use of E2 recording. Apparently E2 is a variant of a system recording called iVDR proposed by Maxell and other firms Japanese, which uses flash memory and hard drives to establish a digital recording standard based on "cartridges" of different sizes. The different HDVS camcorder models use "cartridges" that respond to the iVDR EX specification, which basically are 2.5" SATA hard drives in removable packaging that includes a firmware component to ensure performance stable, correct errors and handle the identification of each piece. It is indicated that it is possible to get reading devices that allow you to mount iVDR cartridges on ordinary computers.

The Star model of the LINE of camcorders of HDAVS is the DataCam E2HD HDC680, which has three 2/3" IT CCD sensors Manufactured by Panasonic, 14-bit A/D conversion and can record up to four channels of audio. E2HD has been demonstrated with lenses from various manufacturers, but we have not been able to determine the type of mount that uses.

The product line is complemented by dispostivos readers and editors such as the HDDE-980LE, devices that look similar to that of a Conventional VTR and that depending on the model can handle two or three E2 cartridges simultaneously, supporting operations simple editing, reproduction of material in band base, VTR emulation and transfer operations of material in IT environments.

No a formal representation has been established for our region, and the vast majority of information available on the DataCam system is in Chinese.
