In front of 300 television service operators, producers, students, teachers, housewives and citizens representatives of the American-ATSC, European DVB-T systems, Chinese-DTMB and Japanese-ISDB, presented the features of each of the standards, during the last Television forum Digital Terrestrial, DTT, carried out by the National Commission of Colombian Television, CNTV, before the decision was made of the standard, scheduled for next August 28.
According to María Carolina Hoyos Turbay, director of the CNTV, the Colombian process has generated expectation among countries Latin Americans, because Colombia has become a leader native of the region, who has his eyes on what is is doing.
Initially it was presented the until now unknown Chinese standard, DTMB, on behalf of Chinguo Li, engineering director of the Institute for Television Standardization of the State Academy of Administration and Dissemination of the China Radio and Film Entertainment; and Changyong Pan, expert professor in the field, who made a detailed exposition of the virtues of the system. This was the first China's public intervention in the world, to present its DTT standard.
Robert Graves, Chair of the Advanced Systems Committee of Television of the United States, intervened to present the American ATSC system, developed and adopted in that country.
After Graves' presentation, Akira Terasaki spoke, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Japan; and Gabriel Martínez, representative of Nec, in Colombia, who referred to the Japanese ISDB system. To complement the dissertation Japanese, Carlos Alberto Fructuoso, director of the company Linear; and Roberto Pinto Martins, National Secretary of Communications from the Ministry of Communications of Brazil, recounted the experience that the neighboring country has lived with the standard Japanese that they have already implemented.
