Mr. Julio Bárbaro, comptroller of Comfer (the regulator of radio and television in Argentina), inaugurated the exhibition of CAPER, the main industry event in this country and in South America. Mr. Bárbaro was accompanied by Ricardo Solari, president of CAPER, the Argentine Chamber of Suppliers and Manufacturers of Broadcasting Equipment, organizing entity of the event.
During the act of Inauguration, Bárbaro highlighted the phenomenon of developments technological that are modifying the habits of the viewers and how the Comfer tries to promote a dialogue between State and private sectors, strengthening free-to-air television. The law has to be the result of a consensus affirmed Bárbaro.
For his part, the engineer Solari highlighted the work carried out by his guild in the field of definition of new tariff headings, necessary for the development of digital television. He also stated that CAPER advocates tax exemption for the importation of television production teams as these are not sumptuary objects but are used to produce goods that in several cases are exported, he said.
The CAPER exhibition arrives like this to its 16th edition with 78 exhibitors occupying more than 2500 square meters of exhibition. This year, CAPER has a delegation from ICEX, Spanish Institute of Commerce Exterior, in whose pavilion several Spanish companies are grouped of equipment for radio and television.
Among the attendees it has been noticed the presence of a significant number of visitors from Colombia, Chile and Uruguay, in addition to the expected attendees of the Argentine television and video industry.
