The HD-Bridge DEC, by Miranda, convert HDV video to HD-SDI 1080 i/720p with embedded audio and code of time. This cross converter allows the user to do conversions between 720p and 1080i without much effort.
The HD-Bridge DEC contribute significantly to e-procurement of HD material said Michel Proulx, Vice President of product development of Miranda Technologies. The HD-Bridge DEC and HD cameras do not require the same level of investment than other HD or cinema cameras.
The combination of this device with HDV cameras allows to obtain HD-SDI content to less than a tenth of the cost of an HD or cinema camera. The HD-Bridge DEC is a desktop interface, very accessible, that solves multiple HDV interface tasks. Accepts HDV through of a FireWire connection and provides HD-SDI outputs in 1080 i or 720 p with embedded audio and timecode. Dual HD-SDI output provides a clean output and another with timecode and markups graticle. The interface also provides ANALOG HD, AES output and analog audio output.
This interface can be used to distribution and playout in broadcast with HDV materials edited converted to HD-SDI for direct broadcast in a HD-SDI infrastructure. It can also be used to convert HDV compressed into uncompressed HD-SDI for lossless editing.
While it is believed that HDV will be mainly used by local newscasts and for Simple documentaries, this format is not only of interest to small channels and low-cost producers says Gilbert Besnard, product manager at Miranda Technologies. In the opposite end of the production spectrum, there will be an interest real by the big names in the news, especially to generate HD content from places that are too unpredictable or dangerous to take risks sending expensive HD cameras or cinema.
