ETSI, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to produce standards for telecommunications used in Europe. Its main office is located in Sophia Antipolis in the south of France. ETSi brings together 786 members from 56 countries outside and within Europe and represents administrators, network operators, manufacturers, service providers, invetistigators and users.
The institute's work plan is determined by its members who are also responsible for approving or disapproving decisions. As a result, its activities remain in tune with the needs of the market and the requests of its members.
ETSI plays an important role in the development of a wide range of standards and other technical documents as well as providing information on technology for broadcasting. The main objective of the institute is to promote the development of the industry through a forum in which its members can comment, discuss and agree on the issues of the industry.
