The Association of Commercial Television in Europe, ACT, was set up in July 1989 with the aim of representing the interests of commercial television before the European Economic Community. The broadcasting companies that are part of the ACT represent many television channels, from commercials to pay television including pay-per-view services.
ACT membership is open to any private television company that is in accordance with the association's bylaws. If you want to know them check out their website.
The ACT is generally consulted by Community institutions which have concerns about the future of the audiovisual sector in Europe. The association is currently working in the following areas:
- Advertising and commercial communication
- Intellectual property
- Competition
- Regulations
- New media and digital television
