In Peru, there is great interest in migrating to IP

En Perú hay gran interés por migrar a IP

Peru. After the implementation of digital television, which began in Peru in 2010, all content was produced in HD. Today, the local industry is migrating back to new technologies. This panorama was shared with TVyVideo+Radio by Carlos Anciburo, general manager of Telvicom.

He stressed that today many productions are made by starting the capture of images with 4K cameras, and then carrying out post-production in HD, thus achieving a significant improvement in the quality of images by using 4K and HDR.

"Currently, there is a great deal of interest from local television stations in the migration of video and audio signal transmissions over IP. There is a great expectation to know more about these technologies and the alternatives that manufacturers have been developing and also about the implementations that are being developed in other countries," he said.

In relation to the use of trademarks, the preference of end users in the choice of trademarks in Peru depends mainly on two factors, one is the level of technological development and the other is the positioning that the manufacturer has or maintains in the market.

"There is always an inclination in favor of a traditional brand, but it depends on whether it maintains its positioning, however, we will also always find new players that offer innovative solutions. In these cases of preference for the use of trademarks, it is important to note that the end customer always takes into account who is the local company that represents them, for the issue of support and after-sales service," he added.

Telvicom, in its 25 years of experience in the Peruvian market, has participated in important projects in the local broadcast industry. "In recent times, we have managed to win several important projects on TV channels. These are equipment at different television stations with 12 high-end studio cameras from Sony, camcorders and digital cinematography cameras also from Sony, two high-power digital television transmitters from Rohde & Schwarz, a router and fiber optic links from Evertz."

Finally, Carlos Anciburo mentioned that "During NAB 2024, as usual, we will visit the booths and have meetings with the manufacturing companies we represent in Peru and, as always, learn first-hand about the new products and technological trends presented at the event, as well as serve our customers, accompanying them to learn more about the systems or equipment they require for their projects".
