The Federal Institute of Telecommunications of Mexico, IFT , published the growth statistics of the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors, in which it highlights that while the national GDP for the first quarter of 2023 was 3.7%, the sector grew by 8%.
Another interesting fact of the IFT report is related to the generation of jobs in the telecommunications and broadcasting sector, which registered an increase of 7.0%, going from 288 thousand 653 employees to 308 thousand 858. Of these, 88% of employees in the T&R sectors were concentrated in the Telecommunications sector and 12% in the Broadcasting sector.
Undoubtedly, these are good indicators that point to the recovery of a sector that comes from going through some difficult years due to the pandemic, in which revenues fell and investments in technology were concentrated in the minimum to maintain the operation.
In what has to do with the broadcasting sector, Mexico has been granting new radio stations throughout the territory, as well as the growth of audiovisual production, which leads to an increase in investment in technology to respond to the qualities demanded today by current audiences.
Mexico has been a pole of development for the broadcasting sector and these numbers revealed by the IFT generate a positive impact both in the country and in the region.
