Peru. The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) created a sectoral working group for the improvement of the radio spectrum management system, in order to update and optimize quality processes for the benefit of users, as indicated in Ministerial Resolution No. 375-2022-MTC/01.03, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano.
The radio spectrum is a natural resource administered by the MTC and is mainly used for the provision of telecommunications, radio and television services. That is why a technological platform is needed that accompanies the state-of-the-art modernity in telecommunications systems and that allows the introduction to the digital transformation processes that are required.
The standard, promoted by the Vice Ministry of Communications, details that the group will be valid for 12 months and will be responsible for developing and recommending the criteria that allow the formulation of the Pre-Investment Study, the stages of it (Identification, Formulation and Evaluation) and present the final report of the project for the "Improvement of the Radio Spectrum Management System of the MTC".
The Deputy Minister of Communications, Virgilio Tito Chura, explained that the MTC makes use of the computer system called ELLIPSE since 2001, so a modernization of it would be recommended, to cover the needs of efficient management of the communications subsector.
He added that the working group will be represented by the General Directorate of Communications Programs and Projects, the Vice-Ministerial Office of Communications, the General Directorate of Authorizations in Telecommunications, the General Directorate of Inspections and Sanctions in communications, the General Directorate of Policies and Regulation in Communications, the General Office of Information Technology and the General Office of Planning and Budget.
In the coming days, the titular and alternate representatives of the group must be appointed.
