Mexico. The Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, announced on its internet portal the Annual Calendar of Public Consultations 2019, through which the general public will be able to know the processes planned for this year in terms of regulation and competition in telecommunications and broadcasting.
The Calendar for this 2019 contemplates the realization of at least 20 public consultation processes and details the administrative unit of the IFT responsible for each process, the estimated period for its realization, the object matter of the consultation and the legal consequence that is foreseen as the final result.
Among the topics planned for this year's public consultations are those related to:
- Guidelines of the Public Registry of Concessions;
- Updating portability rules;
- Effectiveness of the measures imposed on the predominant economic agents in telecommunications and broadcasting;
- Guidelines for the homologation of Telecommunications and Broadcasting equipment; and
- Regulatory Provisions on Orbital Resources and Satellite Communications.
Since its creation, the IFT has carried out 129 public consultations, through which almost 3,000 comments have been obtained from industry, civil society, academia and the general public, which have allowed the Institute to generate regulation under principles of transparency and citizen participation.
