Mexico. Panasonic announced the arrival in Mexico of the compact camera AU-EVA1, ideal for productions on location for its size and lightness and compatible with gimbal supports, Steadicam and even drones.
It is a lightweight equipment (1.2 kg), but capable of capturing images and video with cinematic quality, thanks to its Super-35 sensor of 5.7K resolution (5720 x 3016), which produces 17.25 million pixels; almost double the 8.8 million in a 4K DCI sensor (4096 x 2160).
The AU-EVA1 is a 5.7K EF-mount camera with a Super-35 sensor, with Dual Native ISO technology – which extracts more information from each scene without degrading the image. It also has Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and the same colorimetry of the renowned VariCam system. When recording in 5.7K format, videos captured in other resolutions, such as 4K, UHD, FHD or HD, feature greater detail and contrast, as well as more vivid and accurate colors.
The AU-EVA1 also includes a 3.5" LCD touchscreen with adjustable brightness, from which you can control various camera functions, including iris, ISO, white balance and direct access to the settings menu. However, if the filmmakers prefer it, the camera can also be operated remotely through a special app for iOS and Android mobile devices.
A pair of recently released firmware updates further enhance the capabilities and functions of the AU-EVA1 by adding new intra-frame encoding formats, as well as RAW data output, time-lapse recording, 4:2:2 HD interlaced format and more. As for the available recording options, the EVA1 allows you to capture content at different speeds, including 59.94fps/50fps for 4K/UHD, up to 120fps/100fps in 2K/Full HD, and 240fps/200fps (in compressed area).
