Mexico. Although the acquisitions and renovations of equipment by TV operators do not stop, it slows down considerably in the face of political events such as the elections that are held in various Latin American countries, said Francisco Valle, Country Manager and Sales Director for Mexico of TVC.
"It is a sui generis year that has its flats throughout the region, for example with elections in different countries of the region: Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico; the real impact for us is uncertainty, since traders prefer to wait with investments, especially for what may happen with the exchange rate," he said.
He said that in the first half of the year they had the opportunity to close important agreements with Mexican operators. "The first six months have been great for us; there have been very important projects in which we have participated such as Izzi Telecom, Totalplay and Magacable, as well as with the new service operator, which is still very young but is having a very fast and very successful expansion, which is StarTV and we are the suppliers of the set-top-boxes for them".
Valle said that after the elections, they will have a new approach with operators of all sizes. "We are focusing resources and a lot of attention on developing businesses with medium and small operators. That's the main intention of participating in events like this. Our intention is to participate for many more years."
