NAB. At a key moment for the industry, in which the large number of products and systems that are developed day by day are proposing new ways of making, transmitting and watching television and video, the panorama of the industry in the medium term is not clear.
To face this period of transformation, and while the definitions arrive, it is essential to be aware of the trends. And what better scenario to learn and know the latest than NAB Show, which is undoubtedly the first must-see event of the broadcast industry of the year.
In 2018, the fair, which will be held from April 9 to 12 in Las Vegas, United States, responds to these new ways of producing, transmitting and watching television, with the different niches it proposes: film, mobile, advertising, television, radio, live events, digital, audio, AR/ MR/VR and video.
As every year, and from two days before the start of the exhibition, NAB Show will have an extensive program of conferences, panel discussions and workshops in which the present and future of the industry will be discussed. There are several meetings that attract attention, such as the keynote of April 9 with Simon Mainwaring.
In his presentation called The Future of Profit is Purpose, he will explain the business perspective of "conscious capitalism," which refers to companies that serve the interests of all parties, from investors and employees to consumers and local communities.
Another panel that draws attention, also on Monday, April 9, is the one that explores the rise of digital leaders in broadcast, in which executives from Raycom Media, ABC Owned Television Stations Group, The E.W. Scripps Company and Capitol Broadcasting Company will participate. The panel will address the phenomenon of how digital leaders have become senior corporate leaders of major broadcasting companies.
One of the novelties that the fair will present is the first edition of the Streaming Summit, a one-day conference on Wednesday, April 11 at the Westgate Hotel. The program will focus on the dynamics of the streaming media business, from advances in technology to monetization opportunities and content offerings.
And if you can't be present in Las Vegas, you can follow all the details of the show through NAB Show LIVE, the official live broadcast of the convention, where you can watch the highlights and interviews with company leaders and media, entertainment and technology experts, with discussions on topics ranging from artificial intelligence to the Internet of Things.
