Chile. The President of the National Television Council, Oscar Reyes, participated in the first day of the Advisory Committee, in the Metropolitan Region, for the new Digital TV concessions for community channels, held at the Cultural Center of San Joaquín.
The conference was attended by the Undersecretary of Telecommunications, Rodrigo Ramírez; Ana Carolina Arriagada of the CNCA; María Teresa Vallespín, from the Ministry of Education, together with representatives of Fundación Paréntesis, Techo, NGO Artes para la Vida, Red de Mujeres de San Joaquín, Corporación de Desarrollo Integral de la Familia, DUOC UC, Radio San Joaquín, Colegio de Periodistas, ARCATEL and various community organizations, who make up the advisory committee that will analyze the applications within the framework of the new Digital TV.
The members of the advisory committees were elected to cover the largest number and especially diversity of organizations present in each territory, using the information obtained from SEGEGOB, recorded in a national cadastre.
"The work of these advisory committees is oriented to the assessment of the community work that Digital TV must develop, and the CNTV's commitment to community production must continue to grow, and knowing the reality in which these channels work is an important part of it: we know how the relationship with the communities is, how it influences that the channel that brings the news and covers its events has an increasing social relevance", said the president of the CNTV, Oscar Reyes.
This committee has an advisory and non-permanent character, with the aim of contributing to the development and proper functioning of television as a means of social communication. In this way, this information will be provided in the granting of concessions for digital television broadcasting of local coverage of a community nature.
