Mexico. Given the growing generation of new businesses and platforms in Latin America, such as OTT, Haivisión is committed to providing effective and efficient solutions to these markets, said Fabiano Cardoso, Sales Director for Latin America at Haivision.
"Given the growth of OTT platforms in Mexico and Latin America, we see a very positive outlook. In Mexico we have some clients like Televisa, TV Azteca, Multimedios. The two equipment are used, by a backhole, which is not for signal to the air, but for internal monitoring. This is being used to send content to their Televisa and Multimedia websites mainly, and they offer a great opportunity, since they are migrating to IP. They are changing from satellite to IP, for the costs and quality of transmission and to reduce possible conflicts," he said in his participation in Expo Cine, Video and Television 2017, held in Mexico City.
He added: "Given the limitation of IP transmission networks in Latin America, we have the Makito HEVC. What it does is provide less packet loss, to achieve better video quality and considerable bandwidth economy. Customers need to save their costs."
On the products they showed to the Mexican broadcasters, he said: "We have the Makito H.264 and HEVC (H265) encoder-decoders, which make video transmission via IP point to point, with low latency (50 Ms), high bitrate quality, with a full HD of 2Mb at 3Mb per second. Another product for broadcasters is the KB (encoder and transcoder) that takes a video and uploads it to the cloud, publish it on social networks or ingest it on a video platform (such as Akamai) and publish it immediately."
