Mexico. The Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, agreed to extend the validity of 112 concessions to use, exploit and commercially exploit frequencies for the provision of sound broadcasting service in AM and FM.
The companies benefiting from this extension are located in localities in the states of Aguascalientes, Baja California, Colima, Campeche, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Coahuila, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, Veracruz and Yucatán.
Of the total of these extensions, 33 correspond to frequencies that changed from Amplitude Modulated to Modulated Frequency; 40 are FM stations, 27 am stations, and 12 correspond to concessions to continue commercially using amplitude modulated frequencies and their additional frequency modulated frequency in localities located in the states of Guerrero, Veracruz, Hidalgo, Tamaulipas, Campeche, Michoacán, Coahuila, Yucatán and Colima.
The validity of the concessions on radio spectrum and, where appropriate, the single concession for commercial use will be up to 20 and 30 years, respectively, from the expiration of the concession subject to extension.
