Latin America. The system architecture for the HD RadioTM standard is greatly simplified with the exporter and importer. Both use the same Rohde & Schwarz HDR900 hardware and can be combined even in the same unit with redundant power supply. This reduces the complexity and number of possible sources of error.
Rohde & Schwarz's professional implementation of the exporter and importer is for the first time based on FPGA signal processing. This achieves better performance and greater accuracy than with PC-based importer and exporter solutions for HD RadioTM, which is relevant to ensure the continuity of the adjusted diversity delay.
The experience of HD RadioTM, especially in marginal coverage areas, depends to a large extent on the permanent synchronization between the analog and digital signal. Broadcasters thus have in their stations a simple solution for the fourth generation of HD RadioTM, but at the same time efficient and high precision, which guarantees maximum availability.
The R&S THR9 operates with a power of 3.0 kW up to 45 kW in hybrid mode and up to 80 kW in analog FM mode. The high efficiency of the FM transmitter is achieved thanks to innovative amplifiers and optimal system design. All RF power components, such as the power coupler and rigid line, have minimal attenuation, making it possible for the transmitter system to achieve energy efficiency of up to 75 percent in analog FM mode, and up to 57 percent with an injection level of -10dB.
One of the great advantages that this generation of transmitters provides to broadcasters for their radio stations is its compact design. The R&S THR9 achieves up to 24 kW of RF power in hybrid mode and 40 kW in analog FM mode with a single 19" rack. A large number of additional components can be mounted in the rack, which helps to save even more space.
The R&S THR9 is the only HD RadioTM transmitter on the market that offers a refined liquid cooling system, which cools all components integrated into the transmitter, power supplies and couplers.
