Latin America. Intelsat announced that its partnership with the company Encompass Digital Media, brought an immediate effect on the audiovisual industry worldwide. Thanks to this agreement, the NASA TV channel becomes the first Ultra High Definition (UHD) linear channel available in the Intelsat system for pay-TV operators in Latin America.

The NASA TV channel offers great coverage of NASA missions, launches, press conferences and special events that NASA organizes. They regularly use the Galaxy 13 satellite for their coverage in North America and from this agreement becomes the latest addition, to the fourth TV signal distribution satellite for Latin America of Intelsat, which currently provides its services to 77 of the 100 most watched channels in the region.
The NASA UHD channel, now hosted on Intelsat 14 (315.0 East), is the first non-commercial channel with this type of 4K resolution in North America. The product of an agreement between NASA and Harmonic, it was officially introduced to the market in September 2015. Using Harmonic's transmission system and infrastructure, NASA TV UHD offers 2160p resolution video at 60 frames per second, enriching its programming grid consisting of videos from the International Space Station and several NASA missions that complement remastered historical montages.
