Peru. Six transmitters, six dipole spire antennas and five yagui antennas (of 5 elements), were dismantled thanks to the operation led by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, MTC, on January 11.
The actions of the inspectors of the Ministry were concentrated in cerro Morado, located in San Juan de Lurigancho, with the purpose of dismantling the pirate radios that operate illegally in the Eastern zone of Lima.
All these devices belonged to six stations that operated illegally: Radio Universal (105.7 MHz), Radio Inti (93.9 MHz), Radio Star (93.4 MHz), Radio Ancash (95.8 MHz), Radio Metropolitana (102.5 MHz) and Radio Fuerza (103.0 MHz). Three of them were intervened in full flagrante delicto, while broadcasting broadcasting signals without the authorization of the MTC. The operation was supported by members of the National Police and the Public Prosecutor's Office.
In addition, in an intervention in Cerro Tres Dedos, in Comas, two more illegal stations were intervened, managing to seize transmitters and antennas.
As is known, illegally using the radio spectrum in Peru for the transmission of telecommunications signals constitutes a crime of aggravated theft. According to the Criminal Code, he receives a penalty of up to eight (8) years in prison; while according to the Telecommunications Law, those responsible can receive fines of up to 50 UIT.
Even those who facilitate this illegal use and advertise in these informal stations, the fine ranges from 10 to 30 ITU.
