Mexico. Roberto Duif, Sales Director for Latin America at VSN, commented that the company of Iberian origin is preparing future-proof tools for the broadcast market in the region.
"There are issues that cannot be future-proof, such as storage; but in the end it is a matter of budget and knowing the path you want to follow. What can be done future-proof is the entire software layer and that is key. And that's what we're addressing," said the executive during Expo Cine, TV y Video, an exhibition held in Mexico City.
He added: "We can't know which transcoder is going to be used tomorrow and it may be that my team doesn't have it, but we can know where we have to go and we know that we must have a flexible tool that adapts to future services, such as Netflix, or the future WebTV, or the future YouTube. We can do that without forcing the client to make a new investment," he said.
On the company's performance in Latin America, Duif said: "In Latin America we are doing well. The southern part of the region mostly, there is fear and uncertainty that makes people not invest. We have many projects, which we have not lost any, but the projects are prolonged in time. It is a normal situation, since we are a global company and there are markets that compensate for it. However, our results have been better than we expected in Latin America. We give tools to customers so that they do not have economic problems, such as payment for service, financing issues, to help customers continue their operation."
