Latin America. Rohde & Schwarz THR9 operates with a power of 3.0 kW up to 45 kW in hybrid mode, and up to 80 kW in analog FM mode. The high efficiency of the FM transmitter is achieved thanks to innovative amplifiers and optimal system design.
All RF power components, such as the power coupler and rigid line, have minimal attenuation, making it possible for the transmitter system to achieve energy efficiency of up to 75 percent in analog FM mode, and up to 57 percent in hybrid mode.
Rohde & Schwarz introduces with its new generation of transmitters a compact design very useful for station operators. The R&S THR9 achieves up to 24 kW of RF power in hybrid mode and 40 kW in analog FM mode, and this in a single 19-inch rack. A variety of additional components can be integrated into the rack, helping to save even more space.
Configuration possibilities range from a single transmitter with integrated pumping unit to multi-transmitter systems (MultiTx systems) in a single rack. Thanks to the possibility of integrating high output powers and several transmitters, the R&S THR9 provides the highest power density on the market, and is thus ideal for transmitter stations that require a high output power in a very small space.
Based on the users' years of experience, the operating principle of the R&S THR9 has been systematically adapted to practical application and optimized to meet the needs of radio station operators. The design of the control unit is ergonomic and easily accessible.
The graphical user interface facilitates intuitive operation and allows easy access to components and parameters for different tasks, both at the installation site and remotely. R&S THR9 transmitters can also be integrated into a network management system for monitoring and diagnosing performance parameters and data.
The R&S THR9 is the first HD RadioTM transmitter on the market to feature an advanced liquid cooling system. This considerably reduces the space required and energy consumption, as it does not require the usual high-performance air conditioning systems and consequently reduces maintenance costs.
Compared to the usual air conditioning systems, which require several maintenance interventions per year, the cooling system of the R&S THR9 does not need more than one maintenance every four years. It consists of two pumping modules operated in active reserve and a heat exchanger with two redundant fans, which ensures uninterrupted cooling of the transmitter.
