NAB. Evertz is one of the participating manufacturers of the Aspen protocol and recently announced that it is also joining Aims, making it easier for its customers to adopt any IP system without worrying about equipment.
Nicholas Ponomariv, sales director for Latin America at Evertz, explained to TVyVideo+Radio that the industry is not yet standardized on one of the five IP protocols existing today in the market (Aspen, Aims, NDI, Sony, Tico). That is why you can expect some more to emerge, but the time will come when the applications will define the clients by one or two protocols.
"I see Aspen and Aims as the protocols that will be used the most in the future. Today the customer is seeing the practical point of view: most equipment, what is the manufacturer and what is the standard that is promoting or offering. Now there are customers who need to have our equipment with Aspen and third-party teams with Aims, Evertz can provide the equipment with both systems," he added.
