Mexico. The Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, makes available to the public an electronic tool that allows to denounce the operation of radio stations without concession.
Within the scope of its powers, through the Compliance Unit, the Institute carries out monitoring activities and verification and inspection visits with the purpose of safeguarding the legal, effective and efficient use of the radio spectrum, and therefore the operation of telecommunications and broadcasting services.
From September 2013 to December 2015, various equipment assurances of stations that operated without the respective concession have been carried out.
In order to receive information from any interested party, the Institute will now have the tool "Complaints of Broadcasters without Concession", in which it will be possible to report anonymously or in a personal capacity, on the illegal operation of frequencies.
When making a complaint, data such as the type of content of the transmission (music, commercial ads, among others), locality in which it is heard (state and municipality), transmission schedule, in addition to other optional elements such as the possible location of the transmitter or antenna, must be included.
This information will be received by the Institute's Compliance Unit, which will follow up on the complaint and verify its origin.
The tool can be consulted on page www.ift.org.mx
