Colombia. The National Television Board of the ANTV, advanced the process of cancellation of 47 licenses of non-profit community television, in view of the fact that their holders presented resignation, return of the same or expressed their intention not to continue with the provision of the service.
The Board also decided to carry out a comprehensive review of the current regulations provided for in Resolution 433 of 2013 to analyze the current conditions of provision of the community television service in order to promote and encourage this type of service in the country.
After two years of issuing this resolution, the National Television Board decides to resume the study taking into account the difficult situation facing community television, on the occasion of the new rules issued in the Congress of the Republic and that have put television in difficulties.
That is why the 2016 action plan contemplates an update to the regulation of community television, which recognizes the importance of organized communities the television service offered throughout the national territory and responds to several concerns raised by the sector and whose materialization must occur in effective measures for the positioning of community content in Colombia.
