Colombia. With an investment of $34,147 million pesos, the National Television Authority, ANTV, begins the implementation of Phase III of public digital terrestrial television for 14 stations in the country.
"DTT is the new way to watch television, totally free and with high definition content. It is the transition from analog to digital television with benefits such as better image and sound quality, greater number of channels, new services and ease of reception, "said the director of the ANTV, Ángela María Mora Soto.
As has happened in the previous phases, Radio Televisión Nacional de Colombia - RTVC, will be the operator in charge of executing the resources that will benefit the regional channels Telecafé, Canal TRO, Teveandina, Telecaribe, Teleantioquia and Telepacífico.
"The goal is to expand the current coverage from 70.3% of the population on digital terrestrial television to 86.9%," said Ernesto Orozco, Representative of the Governorates in the National Television Board.
With this investment, the primary network of public television will be digitized, which is composed of high-power stations that have a large population coverage.
The investment that the ANTV will make for the implementation of phase III of DTT was announced to the media during the first workshop for journalists, which aims to open an information and dialogue space about the regulatory challenge of digitalization and convergence.
